CORNERSTONE MEMBERSHIP COVENANT

We believe church membership is an important part of a believer's walk with God. Therefore, we want membership to be meaningful at Cornerstone. The following covenant expresses the commitments we ask our members to make:

"Having received Jesus Christ as my Savior, and having been baptized by immersion, and desiring to become a faithful member of Cornerstone Baptist Church, I make the following commitments to God and the other church members at Cornerstone:

1. I will strive to live a godly life by:

§ Reading the Bible and seeking to live out what it teaches - Romans 10:17, James 1:22

§ Praying and seeking to follow God's will for my life - Philippians 4:6, Colossians 4:2

§ Acting in love towards other believers - 1 John 3:11

2. I will seek to protect the unity of this church by:

§ Encouraging other members and attendee at Cornerstone - Hebrews 3:13

§ Gently giving and receiving correction when it is needed - Galatians 6:1-2

3. I will serve in the ministry of this church by:

§ Discovering how the spiritual gifts, heart's desire, abilities, personality, and experiences God has given me for ministry - 1 Peter 4:10

§ Being equipped by my spiritual leaders to serve in the church - Ephesians 4:12

4. I will share in the responsibilities of this church by:

§ Attending church regularly - Hebrews 10:25

§ Participating in a small group - Acts 2:42, 46

§ Inviting people to come to church and welcoming those who do come - Romans 15:7

§ Giving regular and generous offerings to help support the financial needs of the church - 1 Corinthians 16:2

5. I will support the leadership of this church by:

§ Following their spiritual direction - Hebrews 13:17

§ Refusing to gossip about them or allow others to slander them - Ephesians 4:29, 1 Timothy 5:19

I am in agreement with the areas discussed in this covenant and with the churches mission, values, vision, and doctrinal statement. If I were to leave Cornerstone for any reason, I promise to unite with another New Testament church as soon as possible. I understand this covenant is not expecting me to be perfect, but to have a heart attitude that is pleasing to the Lord. I also understand I will be asked to renew the signing of this covenant every year while a member here. With that in mind, I commit myself to the Lord and to the members of Cornerstone Baptist Church."
